The Holocon – IEC61499-compliant; stand-alone or networked;
event-driven function block controls
|

IEC61499 is a new international standard for highly distributed
function block controls. It provides an event-driven mechanism
for proper sequencing over multiple device nodes. Function Block
Development Kit (FBDK) and Function Block Run Time (FBRT) are
implementation tools of the IEC61499 standard licensed from Rockwell
Automtion.
Holocon Function Block Controller
The Holcon W2 Series is a derivative controller from Western
Reserve Controls WRC1 SmartMux- Plus™ DeviceNet I/O Block and
embedded
controller. It supports real-time function block control, embedded
JAVA, CAN, Ethernet, Discrete I/ O, analog I/O and RS232.
Programming the Holocon controller is via the Function Block Development
Kit (FBDK), implementation tools of the IEC61499 standard licensed
from Rockwell Automation. Over 400 function blocks are available
to select from
as well as a growing selection of Network Blocks.
The Holcon W2 Series consists of the central processor, internal
power supply, CAN communications, Ethernet communications, and
RS232
communications mounted in a brushed aluminum extrusion.

Holocon
- IEC61499 Development Kit
The W2-61499-K1 and W2-61499-K2 demonstration kits are for research
and development of IEC61499-compliant devices, systems and applications.
The Development Kits are based on Imsys Technologies SNAP-module.
The units support multiple interfaces including 64 points of digital
I/O and 16 each of analog I/O, 10/100 Mbit/s Ethernet, UART´s with
speeds up to 460 kbit/s and CAN-bus interface. The units integrates Sun
Microsystems Java 2 Micro Edition and supports a certified CLDC run-time
platform for embedded Java development.
For the advanced user in needs of writing native functions in C or assembler,
the W2-61499-K2 offers an optional development tool, the SNAP-IDE. The
tools included are source editors, on-line manuals and help system, compilers,
assembler, and linker, loader and trace and debug tools. The combination
of the WRC-kit and SNAP-IDE as a development platform environment ensures
faster time to market and cost effective solutions.
The products will be available through WRC and Imsys (www.imsystech.com),
with first shipment during February, 2005.

Holocon W2 Series DeviceNet™ Group
2 only slave
W2-DNET-S is the functionblock based software package (Network
Block) that adds DeviceNet Slave functionality to your W2-FBC
Series Function
Block Controllers. The controller performs IEC61499-compliant; stand-alone
or networked; event-driven function block controls.

Holocon W2 CANopen Slave
Holocon W2-CANopen-S is the functionblock
based software package (Network Block) that adds CANopen Slave
functionality to your Holocon W2-FBC Series Function Block Controllers.
The addition of an open standard such as CANopen allows the W2-FBC
Function Block Controller to be used simply as dumb I/O or as
a way to retrofit existing installations. W2-CANopen-S allows
the W2-FBC I/O, as well as internally computed events and variables,
to be read from and written to from a CANopen Master Device, such
as a PC or PLC just as any I/O device.
The CANopen Library is based on ground of the communication profile
DS-301 V4.x of the CiA e.V. “CANopen Application Layer and
Communication Profile” and
EN50325-4 , respectively, and provides all services specified
therein.

Holocon EtherNet/IP
Software Stack
W2-EIP-S is a software stack extension
to the W2 Holocon™ family of distributed, embedded controllers.
It adds the CIP Layer to the Holocon Controllers to provide compatibility
with other Ethernet/IP products.
EtherNet/IP extends commercial off-the-shelf Ethernet to the Common
Industrial Protocol (CIPTM) — the same upper-layer protocol
and object model found in DeviceNet. Combined, DeviceNet and EtherNet/
I P promote transparency from sensors to the enterprise software.
